Lorea invites artists that inspire and complement their practice to facilitate a class at the start of their working studio day. These classes will range across different artistic practices and mediums and are open to experienced practitioners to join in for free.
These sessions will be hosted by Elisa Vassena. Elisa (she/they) is a London based performer and dance artist with a visual art practice, a soft tissue therapist and an aspiring (and not quite yet) drummer. Since 2012, she has been working across theatre, gallery and museum settings, as well as outdoors and site-specific contexts, both nationally and internationally. Artists she has worked with include Neve Harrington, Ingvild Isaksen, DKHP, Kasia Witek, Maresa von Stockert, Irina Baldini, Pablo Bronstein, Tino Sehgal, among others. Within her practice, she is drawn to cross-disciplinary and collaborative crafting, and deeply invested in the learnings and languages that emerge from the meetings of different materialities, processes and bodies of knowledge.
Elisa’s classes are grounded in somatic enquiry and peppered with a lot of imagining. The sessions will consist in softly guided improvisations, in solo and group constellations. We will cultivate lines of curiosity, attention and intention by focusing on different materialities in motion. Playfully moving between dancing, mark-making/drawing, bodywork (ours and other~than~ours), we will listen and tune into the multiple shifting fields of our own bodies and of those~that we encounter.
