Studioing: Reverberant forms

An invitation from the Artistic Cohort 2024-26.

Join the Artistic Cohort to play with the choreographic through dancing, thinking, dreaming, witnessing and studying together.

Across these sessions the Artistic Cohort are opening some of the individual and collective questions they've been busy with across the last two years of Rose Choreographic School:

What can we do in a studio?

How can our practices pollute each other?

How do we think and learn through difference?

How do we sustain being in relation to one another?

We have no answers, the studios are open: Come speculate with us.

Event Name: Landscapes of Research

Event Date: Friday 30th October 2026

Event Time: 2:30 - 5pm

Event Location: Sadler's Wells East, Stratford

This session is facilitated by Yewande YoYo Odunubi and invited curator Pelumi Odubanjo.

Beginning with an invitation to share practice, Yewande and Pelumi bring their respective artistic and curatorial research into conversation, exploring shared interests in acts of translation and transmission: how knowledge, collective memory and culture are shaped and carried across African and b/Black diasporic contexts, moving between bodies, images, sound and text through live performance. Joined by practitioners brother portrait, Auclair afromerm, and Adedamola Bajomo, they ask what might emerge when research is opened up through collective encounter, exchange and freestyle-improvisation.

Drawing on ideas, materials, and provocations developed through a series of closed study sessions in the days before, the group will continue to interpret, remix, and reconfigure them through their individual practices and in live response to one another. This public sharing opens up their ongoing process to an audience.

Unfolding through freestyle improvisation and exchange, Reverberant forms invites audiences to witness distinct practices meeting in the present moment and consider how knowledge and ideas can be digested, reworked and transformed as they move between people, practices and contexts.

This event has been funded by the Four Nations International Fund through Arts Council England, Arts Council Northern Ireland, Arts Council Wales, Creative Scotland and Wales Arts International.
